My last newsletter musing ended with the following: John Galsworthy made this observation. “The beginnings and endings of all human undertakings are untidy.”
I’m thinking we are going to find out in the next month as we move the gift shop and the gallery next door. It’s only about a 5 foot move, but it feels like so much more!
Oprah produced the movie, The Hundred-Foot Journey, a culinary dramedy about resolving cultural differences and realizing individual identities through food, our journey will be about art. We all come to the table with our own perspectives and as they found in the movie, when we can work from our strengths, believe in our strengths, be respectful of our strengths, then we will get so, so, so much more. I loved this movie, for this point in particular.
It may not go as smooth as we hope. It may not end up looking exactly as we hoped. We may make a few mistakes along the way. But I know for sure we are working for the good of Artworks and its vision, “Bringing the Arts to Life.”
Ready to get “untidy?” We will be making the physical move starting June 27 after our 3pm close. Prior to the move we will need to paint, patch and repair. Many hands make light work – if you are interested in getting involved, please contact me.
Thanks to all of you that were able to attend the meetings to talk about the future space. It’s going to be cool. Artworks is a Miracle on Michigan Avenue!!
