March 7 – April 7, 2017
Reception: March 12 11-3 PM
The magic of art by area K-12 students is featured at Artworks Painted Turtle Gift Shop and Gallery in downtown Big Rapids, between March 7th and April 7th during regular Artworks hours. You have the opportunity to see the amazing works of both two and three dimensional student artists. For twenty-seven years area schools art teachers have been showcasing the talents and creativity of their amazing students. You will see hundreds of drawings, paintings, prints, photography and sculptures. Various mediums will be represented such as pottery, wire, mosaics, yarn, pen and ink, colored pencil, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. Big Rapids, Chippewa Hills, Crossroads Charter Academy, Evart, Morley Stanwood, Reed City, Mecosta Osceola Career Center Graphics Art, and St. Peters Lutheran students work will be exhibited.
This is the fourth year that student art on merchandise will be for sale. Art work by Big Rapids High School students Taylor Conner, Sophia Metz, Nate Welch, Avery Marsh and Brettanya Simmer, and Morley Stanwood students Faith Hobbs and Janae Burns will be featured on aprons, T-shirts, note cards, and magnets. We are excited for the opportunity to present their work in this way. The Poster and Invitation to reception art image was by Aliza Hengesbach from Big Rapids High School.
Artworks thanks John Garlick D.D.S., P.C. with Shirley and Emily for sponsoring Art Attack and their commitment to Artworks’ mission. Additional thanks are extended to Chris Jensen, Career Center Graphics instructor, and two of his students, Magnolia White and Ivy Fudge, for implementing the students’ designs into merchandise.
Come join us at the reception Sunday, March 12, between 11 and 3pm at Artworks. Special music is provided from Big Rapids High School instrumentalist, Joey Veda on the Marimba. All are welcome to attend.
