Artworks to present first production for local author/playwright
Artworks will present its next Intimate Theater production during Festival of the Arts, and the production will feature an intimate, contemporary drama written by local author and now playwright Christopher Kesting.
The play, titled The Cure for Us, also features local actors Roseann Shansky, Zackary Krebs, Kelley Samuels-Goode, Jamie Samuels, Cheryl Courtney, and Jacob Swanson in a story about confession, redemption, and forgiveness. This edgy story explores the complex bonds between siblings and the unconditional love of parents while shining a reluctant yet hopeful spotlight into the shadows that lurk in the corners of all of our childhood attics. The show’s tagline is “Every family has secrets; and the Stonier family is about to have all of theirs exposed in a single afternoon.”
The performances will be Thursday, February 22 through Saturday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 25 at 2:30 p.m. The Friday performance will feature a Curtain Chat with the cast after the show.
Tickets are $10 and are available at The Painted Turtle Gift Shop in the Artworks building or online at EventBrite. The event is sponsored by Blue Cow; Kayla Kesting, REALTOR Big Rapids Realty; Melissa Deneil, MD; and Frederick C. Guenther, MD, FACOG and Gail A. DesNoyers, MD. Local restaurants Blue Cow, The Raven, Schuberg’s, and Vivo’s will offer discounts to ticket-holders before the performances.
