Diane is a Michigan native who has always enjoyed the natural beauty of the woods and waters. After attending art school at the University of Michigan, she moved to the mid-Michigan area and worked in ceramics with the late Nancy Fox at Montcalm Community College. Nancy’s encouragement led Diane to open her own studio, Zakala Pottery, in 1979. Since that time Zakala pottery has been shown in 60 galleries and gift stores across the US, as well as exhibited in numerous art fairs across Michigan, Ohio, and Florida.
She continues to blend aesthetic beauty with the everyday function of the stoneware pieces she creates. She maintains a year-round exhibit of Zakala Pottery at the Art Reach Gift Shop in Mt. Pleasant, and you can also find her work at a few select art fairs during the summer.
