Club will meet at FLITE on FSU campus.
Malcomb X was born Malcomb Little on May 19th, 1925. His family moved a number of times until they settled in Lansing in 1929. Malcomb was a young man with boundless potential but the odds were stacked against him because of his color and the great strife his family encountered. His father was killed under suspicious circumstances and his mother was committed to a mental hospital. Over the years Malcomb fell into a life of petty crime and eventually landed in prison. Once there, he found religion, a calling and a voice. He became one of the most prominent figures in the Civil Rights Movement. This book was written by his daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz with Kekla Magoon. It does not cover his entire life but we are planning to have a speaker who will do that for us. The book is meant to be for everyone and is written in a style especially appealing to teens and young adults.
