The author was seventeen before she ever set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in Idaho, she began to educate herself, learning enough to be admitted to Brigham Young University. Her quest for knowledge led her to Harvard and Cambridge. Only then would she wonder if she had traveled too far, and if there was still a way home to her family.
