Artworks was awarded grants by the Michigan Humanities Council to exhibit “Welcome to Idlewild: The Black Eden of Michigan” in January-February 2015, and to present “A Lincoln Style,” a program featuring President and Mrs. Lincoln, on February 16. Artworks was awarded a $20,000 operational support grant by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). This grant will help pay our daily costs of operations in 2015, such as staff salaries and utilities. The funds that otherwise have paid these expenses can be redirected to our arts and humanities programs. Watch our website for news!

Artworks was awarded a grant by the Michigan Humanities Council to show “The Way We Worked,” a traveling exhibit created by the Smithsonian Institution. “The Way We Worked” uses materials from the National Archives to show the history of work from about 1855 to 1990. We will supplement the exhibit with objects from our local work history. The exhibit starts October 4, 2014, and continues through the end of November, 2014.
