“When you buy something from an artist you are buying more than an object. You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You’re not buying just one thing, you are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul… a piece of someone else’s life.”

Thanks Mikki for sharing this quote. I couldn’t have said this better. When I think of the Painted Turtle Gift Shop and the over 55 artists that we represent I think about each one of these talented artists sitting in their studio creating. Knowing that not everything they make gets to the consumer. They are in that studio, often alone, piecing together their life, their heart, their soul.
I love that they are able to do what they love and Artworks’ Painted Turtle can do some of the “other stuff.” The pricing, talking with the customers, the marketing, setting up the computer system to record sales, open the doors, pay the artists, create events, and keep the building heated!
When you buy something at the Painted Turtle you are supporting each one of the artists and so much more. You are supporting your neighbor and you are supporting sustaining a place to bring the arts to life in our community.
The Dixie Ramblers played at Artworks on October 23rd. Over 120 people were listening, visiting, engaging with art and buying art. This is what Artworks is all about….. Creating that space where our neighbors can come together, where we can continue to build community. Where we can be a piece of someone else’s life.
Be sure to read the rest of the newsletter for all the events happening at Artworks. And don’t forget Match Day is November 10. Please continue to support Artworks financially. We need you!.
