I was born when Dwight Eisenhauer was in office.  Raised on a small hobby farm in Lapeer Michigan with 6 siblings.   I married and moved to Gaylord Michigan in 1985, where our daughter, Olivia and son, Nicholas enjoyed a two-parent family.  After the death of our son in 2005, I went to North Central Michigan College in Petoskey , at the age of 52, for photography.   I wanted to put my grief into something positive.  I had taken a class by a local artist teacher who conducted the class based on the book by Julia Cameron, Creating the Life of Your Dreams through Spirituality.  So, I got to thinking, what is my dream? I had always wanted to have a photography studio called Human Nature Photography, I  filed my dba the next day and purchased an expensive camera, started college 8 months later.   I practiced photography commercially for 10 years, even teaching a class here and there.

When our marriage was no longer the positive institution it started out as, we went our separate ways

In 2009 after 34 years.  (85% of people who lose a child, divorce)

Meeting my partner in clay in 2010 and commuting back and forth from Gaylord to Big Rapids for almost 2 years, I decided to relocate in the late fall of 2011 to the area.

I found clay hand-building to be rewarding and continue to perfect my skills as a clay artist.

I recently retired from the insurance industry after 40 years in the business.  Finishing my career with the Daum Insurance Agency, Erich Daum, Meemic Insurance Company.  The past 10+ years with Erich have been a rewarding endeavor that I was fortunate to experience.
